Loosing all hope on upstox, which once upon a time use to be a wonderful platform

Dear top management team of upstox, hereby I would like to mention my displeasure while using the upstox platform, whose quality is getting detoriated with every update and it feels like we are using a total fractured platform. And this goes with both web based and mobile app.

I am user of upstox broker since 2017, have seen upstox transform from various platform starting from upstox.classic to pro.upstox and now tv.upstox. Upstox.classic was way way, the best platform, smooth interface, user friendly and glitch free platform. Just wondering why upstox needed to upgrade from there and shift to upstox.pro and now tv.upstox. Most of the developer in upstox team may not be even knowing about previous platform. Now my problem is that, with every update and upgrade of the platform, the user experience should have improved, but in contrast, the performance is detoriating with every passing week. Every single update is accompanied with lot of bugs and glitches, which make us feel , earlier glitches aren’t solved and now new update and come there along with it a new glitch. I have also failed to understand why this developer are in so hurry to implement new updates, that they hardly check the robustness of it, and not even bothered to see after effect of it, whether they are causing any inconvenience to users. On top of it, they are so possessive about their update, they are not even bothered to check the after effects of it , and are so adamant on it, they don’t bother to solve the glitches or bugs, if the new update isn’t up to mark and aren’t user friendly. We as a user keeps on complaining about the problem we are facing, and it takes weeks to being understood and considered, just to see months on months passes and simple problems which could have been solved within a day remains there as it is. I further dont understand , that is it our duty or development team duty to keep on checking problem and solve it before any clients complaint for the same. Should we be bothered about our investment or the problems which are causing the inconvenience to us. I have a list of problem, if any senior developer or any senior management person is interested in hearing it out and pay attention to it. Upstox was once a best platform and it is now just tumbling down and down with every updates. I am sorry to say, that as a user since so many years, I am very much in pain with the performance, experience and service what I am getting from using the platform and team behind it.

Great detailed explanation of our pain and problems but don’t worry bro there is no body here to listen to this. They will going to reply you “Thanks for your query, we will forward it to the concern team and get back to you” and then their daily target is reached to reply to as max as possible queries. Their team focuses on the salary they receive, they don’t care about the platform and users.

Thanks for the support bro, we need to raise our voice collectively, and make the management realise that the concerned people are not doing their job and we the client/user are facing the inconvenience and this is spoiling the reputation of upstox. Plz everybody help me in raising the voice collectively in bringing this attitude of development team to the notice of higher management.

Upstox is getting their brokerage so they don’t care about users unless they lose major users from the platform.

Exactly…they are least bothered about checking for problems themself, and even after bringing the problem to thier notice, they are unable to solve the problems for months and months.

I’ve raised problem in August 2024 and still it is not fixed and they are reading my comments in each post but no one is eager to ask which problem I am talking about.

This is the solution of my problem which I had raised one year ago, but they can’t do this one line of fix in one year. What can we expect from them?

Sailing in same boat bro, last year same around August they had introduced dynamic sorting option for sorting of watchlist , since then I have raise the problem in behaviour of sorting and have also identified the cause that it is after introduction of dynamic sorting, but they are so much in love with dynamic sorting update, that they are not at all ready to remove it and see whether is problem getting solved or still persisting. They don’t even want to trouble shoot. This is the attitude of the development team.

@DEVANG_1072163 - I recognize that there were some minor issues associated with sorting. For instance, refreshing in the browser led to reverting back to the prior state and deselecting a sort didn’t give the expected behavior. These have both been fixed. You have mentioned on many posts that you don’t like how dynamic sorting worked. I understand that but from a broad customer perspective, this feature works because it makes sense logically due to it preventing a stale sort. In addition to the dynamic sorting, I know that you also had issues with how the select + deselect feature functions. The overall functionality is comparable to other major brokers so there shouldn’t be a disconnect there.

In terms of customer service, our product team has been on many calls with you to discuss these items. Since you have mentioned it on several posts, we are currently testing a manual refresh button. You would only need to toggle off the dynamic sorting and a manual refresh icon will appear for you to refresh the ticker list based on new price or % change.

There is a saying: “don’t throw out the baby with the bath water”. While we aren’t always perfect, I completely disagree with you equating sub-optimal functionality of sorting with ‘being a total fractured platform’ (or that we aren’t listening, poor service, etc.). In the last few months, we have launched MANY new products and features that have been requested by customers including:

  • In-App Advisory picks
  • Strategy Builder
  • Chart360 on web
  • Market Price Protection (allowing for stock and commodity option market-like orders and improved order slicing)
  • Scalper platform
  • TBT Market Order insights
  • Trade from India Vix feature (Pro Web, TV)
  • Improved experience for Margin Pledge

In addition, we are also working on several other products including single wallet for securities and commodities.

I disagree with you, with more and more updates the platform has become extremely difficult to use, also now I can see 4 new platforms on the web portal, Scalper platform, Chart 360, Trading View platform, I think all are 1 and the same thing just little bit of UI change here and there don’t count as brand new platform.

Also on webview chart preferences are not at all getting saved, I am color blind and hence can barely distinguish between red and green, but the candle colors always seems to be in default colors i.e red and green, no matter how many times I change my preferences.

This is very simple requirements which is not getting fulfilled since so many years.

The older mobile app was way simpler, smoother and faster, not sure why it was deprecated, the order mechanism feature in old app was so much better, it kept each and every update regarding the order modification, this functionality is simply missing in the new mobile app.

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP

Glad to see a reply from senior management team, I am highly obliged by the reply of yours. I will revert back tomorrow, with what few of problems that are there on this platform.

I am very happy that you and your teams are working on new features and launching very quickly. But I don’t understand what kind of hurry are you in? I think Upstox believes in quantity rather than quality. With each new feature/update you broke existing system, You launch half baked cake. Why you are doing this?

You have launched Scalper terminal but it does not have option to place Limit or SL-Limit order? I think your team doesn’t understand the actual meaning of scalping. You think Scalper only buy/sell with market. But actual scalper enter the trade with Limit and SL-Limit and Exit with Market. But you are in too hurry that you don’t even researched well regarding Scalping.

You have launched Chart360 which places GTT orders by saying all in one chart, you don’t need to go anywhere trade directly from chart, but when we place GTT order, it is not visible on chart, we need to open order panel to modify or cancel it, even after order is executed we don’t see target and stoploss on chart so that we can quick trail or modify as per direction, it is completely useless.

You have introduced GTT order but there is no option to buy at specified price, either you buy above or below but you can’t buy at specified price.

Even now you have launched scalper terminal but it broke existing pro.upstox and tv.upstox platform, now when we trade with multiple screen option, whenever we change strike or script on one screen it also reflects on another screen, so we are wasting more time to undoing charts.

I have mentioned bug on tradingview platform on August 2024, which can be fixed max in one hour, but still it is not fixed even now no one is replying on that post when I ask for updates.

Even I have raised another issue in tradingview earlier in March or April regarding wrong pnl and buy price is showing in chart when we buy same option multiple times but still it is not fixed.

I don’t know why you are running behind or running in opposite side of your competitors, They are providing better experience and you are focuses on quantity only. You have lot of trading option/platform but none of them are working well.

I understand where you are coming from. A few points up top before I dive into details. One thing that we need to balance is speed + perfection/completion. I review thousands of points of feedback across multiple social media channels, app reviews, phone calls, and chat logs weekly. More often than not, the feedback is that customers want more features and they want them faster. Of course, we aren’t going to build and launch simply for the sake of it. To be candid, there have been times over the years where we took our time and collected continual points of customer feedback via research studies. Once we launched this completed product, we received many individual, conflicting points of feedback. To address them all, it took far longer than had we just launched iteratively. However, releasing a broken or non-functional product isn’t acceptable.

As we build, we don’t just take customer feedback, but we look at it from our own perspective and ask the question – is this what we want to help us trade? As a trader for the better part of three decades, I recognize that one size doesn’t fit all. There are a large number of strats out there; and if you are doing something that is completely different than the masses, then there is a better chance that you have “edge”. With that said, I’m hoping that we can build products that allow our customers to not miss opportunities in the market. As part of the iterative release process, the intent is that your ability to execute gets better and better.

To address your specific questions:

  • As mentioned above, the Scalper Terminal has just been released and limit order and SL limit is part of the phased rollout. It isn’t missed. This is another situation of seeing continual feedback of the last several months that customers want a scalping product and we chose to take it live sooner rather than later.
  • Regarding Chart360 and GTT visual markers, this is already on the roadmap and will be rolled out in the next 2 weeks.
  • In terms to GTT, no broker can guarantee a fill at a specific price. If I’m misinterpreting/misunderstanding your statement, let me know.
  • Separately, we’ve also acknowledged your TradingView issue in earlier responses. This isn’t just about reply on the post but our product team has also been in contact with you on multiple occasions (please correct me if I’m wrong about this). I believe you have been in contact with either Mohit or Sachin. More than happy to have them jump on a call tomorrow or early next week (will see if I can join as well).

  1. Regarding scalper terminal, why we need to launch it sooner if it may cause loss to the user? Many user who don’t use market order will also try to use scalper terminal and faces losses than don’t you think it will impact Upstox’s image? And I am not concern about this Limit order is available or not, I can use it later when it is available. But I am concern about is that no one is testing new update properly. Each time whenever new update is received, something is broken.

  2. Regarding GTT order I am not talking about executing order at specific price but what other brokers are providing is they have two prices one is for trigger and another is for limit so that we know that our entry price will be between these 2 prices and that is very simple rather than this completely confused mechanism.   3. For tradingview related issue if we can connect and you can explain me why it is taking one year to apply fix where there is no dependability of tradingview that would be better. Yes your team have contacted me 6 months ago but after that I have asked many time regarding updates, but it’s okay we can discuss this while we connect as this is serious issue and I don’t want to switch to other broker just for this bug.

Regarding point no. 1 - Scalper Terminal

  1. It’s clearly mentioned that only market orders are allowed and users knows this upfront. Scalper is meant for that specific purpose only. Scalpers need quick execution. People who are traders, they use Pro Web or chart360 for same. We already have multiple platforms like chart360, ProWeb if users want to use LIMIT orders
  2. Having said that, still LIMIT orders will be rolled out in next phase 2 in SCALPER also

@Sachin_Khodpia that’s why I have already mentioned there I am not concern about order type, I can trade later when phase 2 is live. But after launching scalper terminal, tv platform and pro web platform was not working correctly which was fixed today. So I am just asking whenever you are ready to push new update, you check all platform thoroughly. So that other users don’t get disturbed.

Also Let us know are you planning to add SL and Target option in scalper terminal phase 2 update or will it be released later?
