On 26th October 2023, a few of our users faced a market feed issue. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this might have caused. Here’s a detailed breakdown of why this happened and how we resolved it:
9:58 AM : We were alerted that one of our IT Systems had developed issues due to which some of our users who were on the impacted system were unable to view updated market feeds. Users who weren’t on this setup remained unimpacted.
Why did this happen? Our routine alerting system, which is designed to notify us in case of overutilization of resources, failed to trigger due to which our system ran out of space and some of our users were impacted.
10:15 AM : We managed to shift impacted users to our backup system within 15 minutes, post which they were able to view market feed. Within another 5-10 minutes our charts and alerts services were also restored.
10:52 AM : While this didn’t impact all customers of Upstox, we notified the impacted users and sincerely apologised for the inconvenience caused.
We’re continuing to investigate how we missed the critical alert and how to be better prepared in the future. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
