Cash eq Pledge amount

Hi Team,

It seems that even today, there is no way for me to check what percentage of my pledged margin is cash equivalent, unless I manually match all my pledged securities one by one against what you consider cash equivalent. This is a very basic feature required for option traders. Request your help in prioritising this.

Until you build the feature, can I request two things at a minimum

  • Show cash eq in the margin report at the very least
  • Use cash eq before using cash for option selling (no other broker does this; this is very strange that you block actual cash when there is enough cash eq in the account to use)

Hi @Ankit_Agarwal,

Yes, cash equivalent is not mentioned. However, cash equivalent is displayed in the Interest report under account.upstox.com > Interest report, if you have used more than 50% collateral.

Cash equivalent is always used first and is not part of the interest calculation. I’ve noted your suggestion and passed it to our product team to display cash equivalent value in funds. Thanks.

Thanks for the response @Ushnota

Would appreciate if it could be shown in the margin report and funds, getting charged for interest and then checking through the interest report is not optimal.

Here is an example, which shows that cash is used first (Last year I had raised a complaint and I think your level 3 support also had explicitly confirmed this is Upstox policy to use cash first, than any collateral)

  • Option sold requires a 1.3L margin
  • Account has - 7L non-cash collateral, 90K cash eq collateral and 1.8L cash
  • The amount allowed to withdraw is 43k only
  • The entire 1.3L is blocked from cash because it is available; instead given margin should have been used, and the user should be allowed to withdraw the cash as long as sufficient margin is available.

Let me know if you need more info to raise this with your team, I can send screenshots via DM
