Dear Upstox Support,
I am writing to report a serious issue I encountered with your newly introduced “Strategy Order” feature, which has resulted in losses and left my position in an inconsistent state.
On last trading session, I placed a strategy order for BUY NIFTY 24050 PE (NFO 15MAY25). I attempted to exit the strategy, but only one leg of the position was successfully squared off. The second leg still remains open and I am now unable to close it.
When I try to exit the remaining position, the platform shows an error stating “No active strategy found.” This is highly problematic as I am left with an open position that I cannot manually square off.
I contacted your customer support team, and they mentioned that this may be due to a settlement holiday. However, this explanation does not make sense in the context of exiting an open position in NFO, which should not be impacted by settlement holidays.
This appears to be a clear bug in the Strategy Order implementation:
- The system does not allow partial execution or squaring off of legs.
- Once one leg is closed, it seems the platform treats the entire strategy as inactive and prevents further action.
- There is no manual override or fallback to close the remaining leg.
This flaw in the Strategy Order logic has led to real monetary losses and unnecessary stress. I urge your technical team to look into this immediately and provide a resolution so I can exit the remaining position.
Please treat this as urgent and get back to me as soon as possible.
Is Upstox conducting production testing directly with live user accounts? Because it certainly feels like this newly launched Strategy Order feature was pushed live without sufficient testing or validation. This is a critical flaw from the broker’s end, and users like me are bearing the financial consequences.
Due to a platform glitch in your system, I now have an open position that I cannot exit, and I’ve already incurred losses. Who will be responsible for these losses? As a registered broker, Upstox has the obligation to ensure trading features are stable, predictable, and safe for users.
I request a full investigation into this issue and a clear response on how you plan to compensate users impacted by this flawed feature rollout.
Best regards,
Abhishek Agnihotri
