Starting April 15, 2025, the tick size for Index Futures will undergo a revision. Here’s a quick breakdown of the changes:
- Index Level: 0 to 15,000 → Tick size remains 0.05 (No change)
- Index Level: 15,000 to 30,000 → Tick size revised to 0.10
- Index Level: Above 30,000 → Tick size revised to 0.20
What’s a tick size?
A tick size is the minimum price movement allowed for a contract. So, with the revised structure, the higher the index value, the bigger the tick size, which helps improve price efficiency for higher-value indices.
- The first tick size revision will be based on the closing index value on March 28, 2025 and will apply from April 15, 2025.
- Tick size revisions will be reviewed and updated monthly thereafter.
Note: Index options contracts will continue to trade with a uniform tick size of ₹0.05.
