Hey folks!
For a long time, many of you have asked for a faster, more efficient way to build your watchlists. We’re excited to introduce our brand new “Import Watchlist” feature on tv.upstox.com, designed to help you quickly add multiple scrips to your watchlist with just a few clicks. This is all about giving you more time to focus on what matters most: your trading decisions.
Here’s how you can now add multiple scrips to a watchlist.
Head to the “User settings” panel on the top bar
Under “Platform & Charts” you’ll find the “Import Watchlist” option. Click on the Import button
Now, in the input box you can enter the scrips you wish to add or just copy-paste them from an excel/sheets/csv. Then click on import once you’ve added the scrips here. Here’s how:
Make sure each of the the scrips you wish to add are separated by a comma or in a new line.
Rightly pair your scrips & choose the watchlist
Here, you have two options:
- Choice of watchlist: Add to an existing watchlist or create a new one!
Did you see that “maggi” automatically chose the scrip “NESTLE”? That’s our smart search at work here
- Pair the matching scrips with what you desire. The scrip pairing gives you the flexibility to choose between multiple stocks. For example, for tata shows the top results and you can choose the exact scrip you want!
Select the pairs and you’re done!
Check the boxes of the scrips after you’ve paired and then just hit Import! Your watchlist is now created and the watchlist section on the right of the platform loads up your newly added scrips!
Note:
1. You can import up to 50 scrips at once.
2. Make sure you watchlist has enough available bandwidth to add the scrips. If there’s no bandwidth, no scrips will be imported.
The plus plan allows 20 watchlists with 200 scrips each and the normal plan allows 10 watchlists with 100 scrips each
We’re confident this new import feature will significantly enhance your experience and make managing your watchlists even easier. Give it a try, and let us know what you think in the comments below! Happy trading!
Best,
Mohit

Hi @ABHISHEK_2564441
A few indicators have it a few don’t. However, this is a good one - adding MAs (EMA/SMA) on all possible indicators. Let me have a check on them and see how it can be done.
However, I’m not sure if we can add it to the native TV indicators like ADX.
Also, would you want single MA line or a double?
SINGLE MA IS MUST IF YOU CAN PROVIDE DOUBLE THEN it would have been more beneficial for algo trader like me.
Hi Mohit, What is the criteria to get Upstox Plus Plan?
As per below response:
The plus plan allows 20 watchlists with 200 scrips each and the normal plan allows 10 watchlists with 100 scrips each
Hi @MohitGolecha
This feature of importing multiple scrips to the watchlist appears to be fascinating. However, unfortunately it’s not really as useful as it should have been.
I don’t understand why the backend engineers can not create something more simple and less complicated and less time consuming features.
The basic requisite of this feature is that the user has to type all the multiple scripts names that he wants to add to the watchlist which we need to do anyhow when adding the scripts into the watchlists on tradingview. This is really tedious, time consuming and boring.
Why can’t there be a feature where we can just import or copy and paste the predefined readymade watchlists from your website or any of your platforms?
The traders who trade mainly in Futures would like to have all the futures contracts in their watchlist. How can we quickly create a watchlist of all the futures contracts available on NSE India by using this feature?
Can you please explain how we should create a watchlist containing multiple futures contracts or all the futures contracts available on NSE India using this feature?
Are we supposed to keep typing the complicated nomenclatures with their expiry dates of the futures contracts as designated by NSE?
Is there any way that we can just copy paste the entire list of available futures contracts on NSE into our watchlist?
IS it possible for you guys to make available such readymade lists of certain sectoral futures contracts like Auto, Banks, Financial services, IT, FMCG etc. or may be all the NSE futures contracts (Front, Next and Far) on your website or on any of your platforms like pro.upstox or tv.upstox so that we can just copy and paste or just import it into our watchlist and we need not keep typing the complicated names of the futures contracts in the import window to include them in our watchlists before opening its chart for our technical analysis and finding the levels to trade or submitting the trade for that futures contract?
Hi @Indian_Trader_007
You can copy-paste your scrips in the input box here.
You can also download a watchlist from pro.upstox.com platform. Watchlists are synced everywhere. The TV library does not allow the capability to download watchlists.
Incase of futures, its added in! Screenshot below:
For multiple, just copy-paste it again and you can then choose the contracts.
Readymade lists for F&O and Sectoral split are already released. It’s in a phased release and you should be able to access it soon. I’ll make a post about it as soon as it is rolled-out 100%.
Incase you’re a Future’s chartist - there’s one release we made last month that might help you - Announcing a Game-Changer for Futures Traders: Continuous Contracts Now Available!
Hi @ABHISHEK_2564441
Noted. Shall try and have this baked into the indicators!
Hi @Abhinav_kumar
There’s no criteria to get the Plus plan.
You can find the details in the account section under trading/pricing plan - Upstox Accounts
All additional capabilities and features that are available on Plus are listed out here too!
Downloading the watchlist in pro.upstox is available for only those watchlists which are custom created by us the users.
We do not find any readymade lists of scrips which we can download into an excel sheet or just copy from there to paste it into the ‘Import Watchlist’ window of ‘tv.upstox.com’.
I hope the upcoming readymade lists of F &O and sectoral lists for F &O that you mentioned in your reply have the possibility to be downloaded or at least copied from there to be pasted in the import watchlist window. So that we do not have to waste our precious time and energy to keep searching and typing the names of hundreds of scrips and symbols to create our customized watchlists. Please update the backend team with this feedback before rolling out those readymade list to be able to be utilized fully.
Otherwise simply giving ability to create 10 watchlists or 20 watchlists containing 200 symbols each, is of no use, if its going to require the painful process of searching and typing hundreds of symbol names to create our customized watchlists and also to update those lists every month if we have to create some watchlists with only the futures symbols as they get expired every month.
All I am saying and expecting is please simplify the process of creating customized watchlists as much as possible to save the maximum of precious time of the users and traders on your platform and help them avoid the complex repetitive process to update the watchlists specially for Futures traders.
Thanks

Got your POV. The current version doesn’t have a download option. I think best if we can give an option to add it to the watchlist itself directly from the list.

I think finally I have got my point across. So please co-ordinate with the back end team to implement the relevant features in the upcoming versions.
Also note that the process of pairing the scrips from the drop-down menu in the import watchlist window becomes too tedious and time consuming when we have to create a watchlist to its full capacity containing 200 symbols for Plus members. Just try to imagine how much time and energy the users will be wasting if they have to sit and keep pairing 200 symbols with the names of the companies in the import watchlist window.
This pairing process can be feasible only for those who want to create some temporary watchlist with smaller numbers like 10 to 15 symbols in the watchlists.
For those who want to create a longer watchlists of say all the stocks having futures and options or all the near futures contracts or the next futures contracts in the watchlist, do you think the process of pairing the scrips with the names of the symbols is going to be practical and easy?
I think the feature that you mentioned in the post about continuous futures contracts availability, that if we can add the continuous contracts to the watchlists will solve this problem of managing and updating the watchlists for the futures traders on your platform as they will not have to update the watchlists every month after expiry of the previous contracts.
Also, for others there has to be some faster and more efficient way of getting such a long list of scrips in the custom watchlists like copying and pasting all scrips or certain sections of the ready-made watchlists or downloading the entire ready-made list into our custom watchlist.
Thanks

Hi @Indian_Trader_007,
Could you please share your UCC with us? Thanks.
it is tedious task to select all 50 scrips one by one. Instead, it should fetch the name of script based on code.
