Brokerage calculation needed to be understood

Hi there

Can you please clarify how much brokerage will be charged for Nifty options if I buy more than freeze quantity. For example if I buy 3600 quantity then will I charge 20 RS brokerage or 40 RS?

Upstox charges a flat ₹20 per order for brokerage, meaning each buy or sell order incurs this fee regardless of quantity—so if you buy 1 lot of Nifty Options and sell it, you pay ₹20 for buying and ₹20 for selling (₹40 total). If you trade 3600 qty and it splits into multiple orders (e.g., 1800+1800 on both buy and sell sides), you pay ₹20 per order (₹80 total for 4 orders). However, if execution splits into more orders (e.g., 10 buy and 10 sell orders), brokerage jumps to ₹200 for buying and ₹200 for selling (₹400 total). Thus, fewer orders mean lower costs.

Thanks for the explanation. I was also thinking same but in their Brokerage Calculator, It is showing 40 brokerage for any amount of quantity. They need to update their brokerage calculator to show brokerage as per split order logic.

It’s a default template for one quantity

Yes but they can improve it.

100% agreeing with you, but mostly the brokers would be providing default calculation of single qty
